Cristiano Ronaldo breaks 2nd shirt sales record after Man United return

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United comeback has this weekend continued to break records when it comes to shirt sales, it has been confirmed.

A fine summer all told on the red half of Manchester of course came to a spectacular head late last week.

As if the high-profile additions of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane were not enough, those in a position of power at Old Trafford set the world of football alight with their third and final reinforcement to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

The player brought in? 5-time Ballon d’Or winner and Reds prodigal son Cristiano Ronaldo.

After the Portuguese made clear his desire to depart Serie A heavyweights Juventus on the back of three seasons in Turin, United swooped decisively for his signature, beating out competition from neighbours Man City.

In turn, Ronaldo put pen to paper on a two-year contract at the Theatre of Dreams, coming full circle on the back of a 12-year spell away from the club.

CR7, in turn, could well be in line to make his 2nd United bow next weekend, when Solskjaer and co. welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford, for a Premier League clash.

Ahead of the Manchester showdown, however, it is not the veteran attacker’s impact on the pitch, but rather away from it, which has proven the headline news in the media over recent days.

This comes with the iconic ‘Ronaldo 7’ Manchester United jerseys to have gone on sale across the globe having already smashed a series of records.

First, on Saturday, it was revealed that the CR7 shirt had become not only the most owned of any player in the Premier League this season, but also broke the record as the fastest-ever selling jersey online in the English top-flight, within the first 12 hours of going on sale.
And now, on Sunday, a 2nd benchmark set by Ronaldo’s Red Devils kit has been confirmed.

As per The Mirror, within hours of luring their one-time talisman back to the club, United enjoyed ‘the highest day of online sales ever on a single sports merchandise site outside of North America.’

All of this with Ronaldo yet to even step foot back on the pitch in the colours of the Manchester giants…
